Considering Whether You Need Menopause Hormone Replacement

There are many questions to ask when you are considering if you need to have menopause hormone replacement therapy to help with the symptoms that you are having while going through menopause. Some of these questions revolve around what types of symptoms you are having while going through menopause. For instance, you need to decide how much you are bothered by the symptoms of vaginal dryness or the hot flashes that you are having during the day or night. If these symptoms are impeding your ability to enjoy your life each day, then you might consider talking to your doctor about the possible therapies that might be right for you according to the symptoms that you have and the other risks that are involved in menopause hormone replacement.

Other Questions for Your Doctor

First, your doctor will probably order some hormone tests that will show what might be helpful to you with your symptoms. There are also some home menopause hormone tests that can be taken, but these are controversial in the results and interpretation of these results. Once the doctor is certain that you are eligible to take some type of menopause hormone replacement you will need to ask him some questions about the replacement therapy to see if you are at higher risk than other women.

For instance, the doctor will probably ask whether you have had any history of heart disease or whether you smoke or drink on a regular basis as these things can increase your risks in taking these therapies. You will also be asked whether you have breast cancer in your family or whether there is a history of gall bladder disease in your family. They will also ask whether you have had a history in your family of blood clots or strokes, as these are also some side effects of these menopause hormone replacements. If you have any of these histories, you might want to weigh very carefully the amount that the effects of menopause are really affecting your life because the side effects of the replacement therapy are so serious for you.

There are also some other questions to ask your doctor such as how long it is safe to use the therapy and whether some types or replacement are safer than others. It is also a good idea to ask your doctor what form of therapy is the safest to use according to research, such as the pill, shot, patch or other form of menopause hormone replacement.
